The Situation...

From its inception in 1865 as a State Constabulary, The Massachusetts State Police has evolved into a modern full service law enforcement agency with a compliment of over 2300 officers. Having the distinction of being the oldest state police organization in the United States, the Massachusetts State Police boast a rich history of service to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center will help preserve this proud heritage with a display of historical photographs, memorabilia and artifacts collected over 135 years.

Several of the major goals of the MSPMLC are to provide drug awareness seminars, citizens training programs and offer career guidance programs for youngsters interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

Another peripheral benefit is the established relationship with the federally funded Blackstone Valley Regional Heritage Corridor Commission, whose mission is to preserve and enhance the Blackstone Valley’s historical significance.
